About us
We built the thing we could not find.
We left too. Then we spent months looking for a therapist who did not need the whole thing explained first.
Why this exists
Finding non-religious therapists who understand us was hard.
Some of us walked out of a Kingdom Hall. Some out of a ward, a mosque, a shul, or a group with no name on the door. What we shared came later, in the waiting room.
We each found a good therapist. Each one heard "I left my religion" and reached for the wrong shelf. One suggested we make peace with our family. One asked, kindly, whether it was a phase. One was excellent — and it still took six sessions to teach her the vocabulary before the work could start.
None of them were bad clinicians. They had no map for a loss with no funeral, and we were too tired to draw one.
So we started a list of the ones who already knew. That list is this site.
Privacy
We know how important your privacy is.
For a lot of people here, the danger is not embarrassment. It is a shared laptop, a spouse who checks, or a family that stops speaking. So we would rather tell you exactly what we ask for and exactly what we do with it than promise you something vague:
- One thing, one reason. We ask for an email address, because a therapist cannot answer you without one. No name, no phone number, no account to create. We do not sell it, rent it, or add you to a mailing list.
- What you tell the chat stays between us. It is used to find you a match, and it goes to the therapist you pick. It is not sold, not traded, and not shared with anyone else.
- They answer you directly. The therapist you pick replies to your email themselves. There is no inbox here to check, no account to keep, and we take no fee on your sessions.
You do not have to start from the beginning again
Tell us as much as you want to. A minute is enough.
